  8.   You have landed on a distant
  9.  
  10. planet.  As you fly your lander
  11.  
  12. module over the surface of the
  13.  
  14. planet, you see your fellow
  15.  
  16. astronauts drifting through space.
  17.  
  18. There's only one thing to do.  You
  19.  
  20. must manuever your craft into their
  21.  
  22. path so they can grab on and climb to
  23.  
  24. safety.
  25.  
  26.   The object of C-64 RESCUE is to use
  27.  
  28. your lunar lander to rescue as many
  29.  
  30. astronauts as you can in a limited
  31.  
  32. amount of time.
  33.  
  34.   Use your joystick in Port #2 to
  35.  
  36. control your lander.  The firebutton
  37.  
  38. increases your altitude.  Pushing the
  39.  
  40. joystick forward will move your craft
  41.  
  42. toward the mountains. Releasing the
  43.  
  44. button will allow gravity to pull you
  45.  
  46. back towards the surface. Pulling
  47.  
  48. your joystick back will move you away
  49.  
  50. from the mountains.  Pressing the
  51.  
  52. joystick left or right will move you
  53.  
  54. in the corresponding direction (left
  55.  
  56. right).
  57.  
  58.   When the timer (in the bottom right
  59.  
  60. corner of the screen) reaches zero,
  61.  
  62. the game is over.  Your score is
  63.  
  64. shown in the bottom middle of the
  65.  
  66. screen.
  67.  
  68.   Pressing the 'Q' key while playing
  69.  
  70. a game will QUIT the program.
  71.  
  72. Pressing the 'P' key will PAUSE the
  73.  
  74. game.
